A new community group for youth in Cypress, Texas
Youth Designed
The OUTpost is a spiritual and relational gathering for Cypress area youth in senior high school . With guidance, The OUTpost’s youth leadership created this group from the ground up. Every Sunday evening, we enjoy a meal, a sacred moment, and an opportunity to hang out without judgment. Once a month, we invite guest presenters to facilitate special events or we go out for activities.
A Safe Space
The OUTpost is a “Just As I Am” community which is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Just As I Am communities are intentionally safe, affirming and supportive of LGBTQ+ individuals. The Episcopal Church respects the dignity of every human being and does not believe LGBTQ+ individuals need to be fixed, converted, or changed. God’s diversity is a gift!
Leadership
The OUTpost is sponsored by St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cypress, Texas. This means that St. Mary’s supports The OUTpost financially and by providing vetted and trained adult leadership. The group also follows the Diocese’s “safe church” procedures for the safety of all youth. The group does not gather at the church and neither church membership nor a commitment to Christianity is required.
